Gracie Jiu-Jitsu of West Monroe is committed to the effective teaching of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Our program is centered on Self-Defense and includes conditioning, technique and sparring. Our curriculum is designed to ease the student into the training regime and application of technique.

John Blunschi: Vice President, Team Hopkins

Owner / Head Instructor

Certifications: BLACK BELT

John Blunschi is a black belt under Professor Pedro Sauer and Allen Hopkins. He has been a member of Team Hopkins since the beginning and is the Head instructor of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu of West Monroe.
John has competed and won at many different competitions including the bud cup, pan American games, the Mundials, and is also a retired professional mixed martial artist. John is also the head trainer of Gorilla fitness and has trained with some of the most elite athletes in the world gaining valuable experience. The concepts that John brings to his training are revolutionary and he prides himself on thinking "outside the box". John is also the proud father of two children, Bailee and John Bennett, both of which train Jiu-Jitsu under John.

Mike Braswell

Assistant Instructor

Certifications: BROWN BELT

Mike is a brown belt under Allen Hopkins and John Blunschi and has trained with John for over 7 years. Mike is full time Gorilla fitness trainer and Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instructor. Mike has competed in many competitions all over the country and is also a professional mixed martial artist.

Jerred Baker

Chief Instructor of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu of Ruston

Certifications: PURPLE BELT

Jerred is purple belt and head instructor of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu of Ruston. Jarred has competed in the pan American games, as well as several amateur mixed martial arts bouts. He is a full time Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instructor and has been training for over 5 years.

Jonathan Brantly

Chief Kids Instructor

Jonathan Brantly is a purple belt under Alan Hopkins and John Blunschi and is the Children's instructor at Gracie Jiu-Jitsu of West Monroe. Jonathan has competed and won many different competitions including the bud cup, NAGA, and the LA open. Jonathan trains 6 days a week and is very dedicated to the art of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Jonathan is the proud father of 2 children, Jayce, who trains under his father in the children class, and a newborn Josie Claire.
